Songtext von Portland

Dawn light echoed freely Left no hope no comfort no warmth I stumbled slowly hoping To find the grace for losin a war A man went one to far last night Put himself on trial While brothers rallied on all sides Braved the jackals way for a while Held a flame To the dreamin that had brought me near But watch you fade Brother I'd never forgive myself Portland If not now then when Our sadness exhausted itself Among legions of forgotten men Shot down where the river runs cold All tryin to find our way home Where full circles won't end I found a sheltered altar With old wise heart lending an ear Said we ain't dancin with the joker Darlin you got nothin to fear We shed our blood soon after Hearts hewn to our sleeves Talked ablaze throughout darkness into laughter Still they came The demons that had brought me near No more charades This old town is where the games should end Portland If not now then when Our sadness exhausted itself Among legions of forgotten men Shot down where the river runs cold Still tryin to find our way home Where full circles won't end
