Songtext von Wait for Me

Between these wooden shelves I wander Through paper scents of yesterday My fingers brush against the corners of something tucked away And now I hold this piece of time These words in faded ink, divine Who were you when you wrote these lines? Who were you before the pages turned? What kind of love did you then learn? Did autumn rain against your window play? Were there words you couldn't say? I trace the letters of your name But time has washed it all away (Who were you? Who were you?) The dust folds soft in morning light As I ran words you left behind The paper's thin and warm but bright With thoughts you once defined Your handwriting tells me more Than all these sentences explore Who? When you wrote these lines? Who were you before the pages turned? What kind of love did you then learn? Did autumn rain against your window play? Were there words you couldn't say? I trace the letters of your name But time has washed it all away (Who were you? Who were you? Who were you?) Sometimes I think I see your face In every stranger passing by I wonder if you found your place Beyond these words that make me cry (Who were you? Who were you?)
