Songtext von Grandpa

I've been trying trying trying To be such a wise man like you had been I've been trying To be such a kind man like you had been I got home late and papa caught me creeping He was sitting in the sofa silent acting like the good cop Asked me: Where have you been? I said drinking I mean hanging out with some friends on our way to the pub Your bedroom stinks You were supposed to do the dishes Damn you're such a jinx Well at least you fed the fishes If I ever get the chance to see you marry I'll get you grounded even in your thirties And today Here I am again Talking to your grave Like you never left I've been trying trying trying To be such a wise man like you had been I've been trying To be such a kind man like you had been One forgotten Christmas December lost its relevance Family precious treasure That's what he always said Papa had the habit of matching all his outfits Kisses on the cheek and Call us witty names, oh lord I used to hate it Now I miss one of his goodnight kisses And today I'm standing at your grave Crying out again Ever since you left I've been trying trying trying To be such a wise man like you had been I've been trying To be such a kind man like you had been
