Songtext von On the Deck of the Hispaniola

The man of the island is happy Eating his cheese The ship's headed home Through the blue round of sea Just like in the song "Fifteen men on the dead man's chest..." The devil has most of the crew And plans for the rest The treasure is stowed in the hold But the cook doesn't sleep A sack of coins for the road And his head he will keep The man of the island is happy Eating his cheese A thousand pounds is his To spend in three weeks Exactly the way he despised He'll be keeping a lodge A butt for the country boys And a singer in church Great luck came so close at times But only little he caught Too many thimblesful of rum Hardly did him much good But now on Hispaniola's deck He's eating his cheese The ship's headed home Through the blue round of sea
