Songtext von I Thought I Understood

This evil which we all have by birth This charm inherited by chance Washed in the artificial light Spilled down from the ornate From the ornate antique lamp I thought I understood your yearning For it looked, it looked identical to mine I thought I understood your yearning But you were yearning, yearning for another time Dried flowers hang dead from the gallows The nails in the walls of your room Charcoal sketches they lie naked Across the pages, the pages of a novel torn in two I thought I understood your yearning For it looked, it looked identical to mine I thought I understood your yearning But you were yearning, yearning for another time
