There's a chance you'll wake tomorrow With the shrieking flames of daybreak Like an ill-tuned trumpet blaring I have left you You might hurry to your window Hear the rhythm of my bootheels See me moving down the highway towards tomorrow I'm a friend of the darkness Traveller in the rain I'll be gone before the daybreak brights again I love the silver slant of raindrops And the road just beneath my feet girl Yet I'm much too shy to say please understand Last night's storm called me to follow With the voices of choral thunder So is it any wonder I have left you I'm a friend of the darkness Traveller in the rain I'll be gone before the daybreak comes again
