Paroles de Hand-carved Heart

There's an old Spanish oak Bent over a country road If it could tell all that it knows Of the hand-carved heart Once two lovers slept in the shade His hands weaving through her dark braid They shared the edge of his blanket Then carved their names in the bark CHORUS: But the heart it has darkened With the weather of years It may never fade away Washed clean with her tears But the human heart breaks With a hurt that runs deep through the blood I wish it was made out of wood Like a hand-carved heart Then he rode away Down that old country road Away from the old Spanish oak With the hand-carved heart He said he'd be back oneday She wept as she waited she prayed She vowed she would never betray The hand-carved heart CHORUS But the human heart breaks With a hurt that runs deep through the blood I wish it was made out of wood Like a hand-carved heart A hand-carved heart Like a hand-carved heart A hand-carved heart
