Testo di Seven Abominations

I looked upon a broken world And cursed the evil that I saw The violence, greed and hatred The way men chose to break your laws I spoke of all the wicked ones The liars hiding in the dark But when I stood before the mirror I found their shadow in my heart I thought the problem lived in them Far away from where I stand But the deeper that I searched my soul The more I saw it in myself Seven abominations Hidden in the hearts of men Pride, deceit and wickedness Returning once again Seven abominations Living underneath The man I swore I'd never be Was staring back at me A haughty look, a lying tongue Hands that hurt the innocent A heart that plots what isn't right Feet that run toward evil things A false witness speaking lies A voice that tears a home apart I knew these words were written down Yet never thought they'd mark my heart The courtroom of my conscience Had no defense to give Every accusation spoke the truth About the way I've lived Seven abominations Hidden in the hearts of men Pride, deceit and wickedness Returning once again Seven abominations Living underneath The man I swore I'd never be Was staring back at me Lord, break the pride within me Lord, silence every lie Lord, cleanse the hands that caused the hurt And teach these feet new paths I cannot save myself I cannot make me clean If mercy doesn't find me now What will become of me? Seven abominations Once living in my soul But mercy met me in the darkness And refused to let me go Seven abominations Hidden in the hearts of men Pride, deceit and wickedness Returning once again Seven abominations Nailed upon the tree The man I swore was left behind When grace remembered me Seven abominations Hidden in the hearts of men Pride, deceit and wickedness Returning once again Seven abominations Living underneath The man I swore I'd never be Was staring back at me
