How long, how long, how long? Hope deferred makes the heart sick Who can bear a broken spirit? How long O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul? Consider and hear me O Lord my God Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death But I have trusted in Your mercy I will sing to the Lord Because He has dealt bountifully with me When he opened the fifth seal I saw under the altar the souls Slain for the word of God And testimony they held They cried with a loud voice saying How long O Lord, holy and true Until you judge and avenge our blood On those who dwell on the earth?
