Maracay was an indigenous cacique belonging to the
From the Araguas tribe in Venezuela. He was a brave
Warrior who managed to defeat the Spanish military Juan
Rodriguez Suarez (1510-1561)
The cacique Maracay ruled over the extension that
Today it occupies the state of Aragua and part of other states
Adjacent in Venezuela. The best ally of him the cacique
Turiamo, accompanied him in many battles
He is especially known Maracay for the great defeat
What did he give Juan Rodríguez Suárez in battle?
Held against the soldiers of the said captain
It degenerated into a duel between cacique and conqueror
The skill and strength of Maracay soon put an end to his
Opponent, who had to retreat defeated to his camp
The name Maracay would later serve to name a new
Descendant tribe from which he originated
He died very young. After having defeated Rodríguez
Suárez was betrayed by one of his Indian companions
And handed over to the Spanish, who killed him while
He was resting, as a result of a
Betrayal of one of his warriors
