We used to meet up at the lockers
Now we're lucky if we squeeze in a few drinks on the holidays
Weekends, playing soccer
Now my friends all moved away and they're too busy for pick-up games
And I know that the phone works both ways
But maybe I'm just scared to confront how we all changed
Had my head in the sand for so long where it felt safe
That I just saw the Sun for the first time in days
Just checking in, hey, how you been?
It's been too long, swear that I still exist
I missed your call, it's no one's fault
It was so much easier when we were kids
So, just checking in
Heard you're getting married next month
I remember when you met her, and you told me she was the one
So thank you for the invite
But I couldn't get away from work and I can't afford a flight
And I know that the phone works both ways
But maybe I'm afraid that it won't be like the old days
Had my head in the sand for so long where it felt safe
But I just saw the Sun for the first time in days
Just checking in, hey, how you been?
It's been too long, swear that I still exist
I missed your call, it's no one's fault
It was so much easier when we were kids
So, just checking in
The pendulum swings and the distance it brings
Are you feeling it too? Or is it just me
So I try to rewind to the place and the time where it all makes sense
Tell me we're still friends
Just checking in, hey, how you been?
It's been too long, swear that I still exist
I missed your call, it's no one's fault
It was so much easier when we were kids
Just checking in
Just checking in
(So I try to rewind
To the place and the time where it all makes sense)
Just checking in
